Blend wood floor registers seamlessly into any hardwood surface with the Wood Designs Insert Floor Register - a self-rimming, surface-drop register that replaces standard metal floor vents with a precision-crafted solid wood alternative, available in over 60 hardwood species and shipped unfinished for a perfect stain match.

Interior designers and flooring specialists select the Wood Designs Insert for retrofit and new-construction projects where the goal is a cohesive floor plane unmarred by visible metal hardware. The solid self-rimming lip conceals inexact subfloor cuts and provides a stable, finished edge without the need for a separate frame. An optional easy-slide or adjustable box damper controls airflow from the vent face without disassembly. Standard stock species include Red Oak, White Oak, and Maple; a full matrix of domestic and exotic hardwoods is available by special order.

Delivered unfinished and factory-sanded, the register is ready to accept stain, oil, lacquer, or clear coat alongside your finished flooring - ensuring grain continuity and an invisible transition between vent and floor.

"The outward facing side looks great. We'll see how it holds up. But vent blades/louvers and their control is dicey. The unit cannot even be held by the underside w/o the possibility of the blades coming out of their slide fixture and needing to be put back in one by one. The blades/louvers are extremely thin metal. The control binds a little too."

Yes — unfinished resin covers can be painted to match your walls or trim. However, covers that have already been painted at the factory are non-returnable. If you plan to paint, order an unpainted cover, apply your chosen color after testing on a sample, and install once dry. Standard spray paint adheres well to resin; no special primer is required for most colors.
