Yes — we make decorative round ceiling vent covers in 1", 6", 8", 10", and custom diameters, in cast aluminum, brass, and steel. Round covers are common on older ductwork and standalone bathroom exhaust vents. If you're replacing a standard plastic round vent, measure the duct opening (not the cover) and order that size.
We carry every major finish — white powder coat, satin nickel, oil-rubbed bronze, polished brass, antique brass, and cast iron black. If you tell us what your other vents look like (or send a photo to our sales team) we'll help you match. Most customers replace all the ceiling vents in a room at once so the finish stays consistent.
Usually no. Floor registers are heavier and have dampers that work with gravity — both bad on a ceiling. They also vent air downward by design, which can cause your AC to short-cycle if installed overhead. Use a ceiling-specific vent cover, or browse our wall + ceiling collection where every product is rated for both surfaces.
Yes — as long as the cover is rated for ceiling installation and screwed into the duct frame, not just the drywall. Cast iron covers exceed safe ceiling weight limits and shouldn't be installed overhead unless you've reinforced the framing. Our ceiling collection is filtered to only show materials and weights that are safe for ceiling mounting — you can't accidentally order a 12-pound floor grate for an overhead install.
Most ceiling vent covers install with two or four screws into the existing duct frame — the same holes your old cover used. We include screws sized to the cover material. If you're upgrading from a stamped metal cover, the new holes will line up. For a cleaner, screwless look on the ceiling, ask about our concealed-bracket and magnetic mounting options.
For ceiling AC vents, look for lightweight materials that don't strain the drywall or screws — cast aluminum, stamped steel, and decorative resin are our go-tos. Avoid solid cast iron on ceilings unless you're working with a contractor who can reinforce the mounting. If you want a quiet ceiling diffuser that doesn't whistle when the AC kicks on, our aluminum linear slot diffusers are the gold standard.
