Our Madelyn Carter cabinet hardware is solid cast brass — not zinc or aluminum with a brass plating. Solid brass is heavier, more durable, and holds its finish significantly longer than plated alternatives. It also machines and polishes more cleanly, which is why the detail quality on solid brass hardware is visibly sharper than comparable plated products. The finish is lacquered to prevent tarnishing, so no polishing is required.

Yes — the Madelyn Carter hardware and vent cover lines are produced with matching finish specifications. If you order matte black pulls and matte black vent covers from the Madelyn Carter line, they will match. This is the core design premise of the collection. Note that finishes from other manufacturers or other VCU product lines may not match exactly, even if they share the same finish name.

For pulls, the size refers to the center-to-center measurement — the distance between the two screw holes. Common sizes are 4", 5", and 6.25" on center. Measure the existing holes in your cabinet doors before ordering to ensure the new pulls are a drop-in fit. For knobs, the key dimension is the overall diameter or length — most standard knobs work with a single screw and do not require hole matching. If you are replacing existing hardware, the easiest approach is to match the hole spacing of your current pulls.

Most cabinet pulls install with two screws that
pass through the cabinet door from the inside. The pull's backplate sits flush
against the door face and is secured by tightening the screws from inside the
cabinet. Knobs use a single screw. Standard installation requires a screwdriver
and, for new holes, a drill. If you are replacing existing hardware with the
same center-to-center measurement, no drilling is needed — the new pull uses
the existing holes.
